What is an Affiliate Program? |

Thousands of companies have put up websites where people can buy their products and services. However, those websites are only useful if they get visitors. No visitors equals no customers. To solve this, many companies have created
affiliate programs.
The idea is that you attract customers to the company's website. In return, they pay you a commission for each purchase made by customers you referred. Depending on the product, that
commission can be up to 50% of the sales price!
Joining an affiliate program is easy and almost always free. First select one you like. Then complete a simple form with your details (so the company knows where to send your checks). In return, they give you a unique affiliate ID.
Making money with an affiliate program
All you have to do now is get people to visit a special website address. That address contains your unique affiliate ID, so the company's systems can work out that someone was sent by you, rather then by another affiliate. That way, you get proper credit for each sale.
To help you attract visitors, most companies give you colorful banner ads. Banner ads are those rectangular images you see everywhere on the Internet.
Some companies also give you hints and tips on how to attract visitors. But because they are not in the business of Internet marketing, these tend not to amount to much. You really need specialized sources to make it work.
You can do this from most countries
You don't have to live in the United States to make money with an affiliate program. Most companies will be happy to send you your checks wherever you live. You simply bring those checks to your local bank, which will convert them to your local currency. Lots of Europeans, Canadians and Australians are doing very well.
How to choose the best affiliate program?
Find the good programs and eliminate the dogs by considering the following rules:

High quality product or service -- remember, it’s your reputation that is on the
line (and online!). Don’t recommend products that UNDERdeliver.

Merchant has a good site that sells effectively.

Ability for affiliate to link straight to individual products, rather than just to the home page. (If the visitor has to find the product that you recommend, your Conversion Rate plummets.)

Type of payment model... Pay-per-sale and pay-per-lead are good. This is
true “performance marketing.” If your referred visitor delivers the desired response, you get paid. What about “pay-per-click?

Affiliate Support...
• Accurate, reliable real-time online accounting, preferably with some kind of ability to “audit” by spot-checking
• Detailed traffic and linking stats
• Notification by e-mail when a sale is made

Great affiliate support is important for a “between the lines” reason, too. It indicates a high degree of commitment to the program and its affiliates.

Pays good commission -- hard goods have lower margins than digital ones.
So their commissions will be lower. Still, you should make at least 10% (hard good) or 20% (digital good) on any product that you recommend. Don’t be
scared off by low-priced products if they offer a good % commission -- the lower dollar value per sale is offset by the higher sales volume.

Lifetime commission -- if the program pays a commission on future sales of

Q: How will you keep track of the orders coming from my site?

sign up as an IMC affiliate, you will be assigned a unique identification number. This unique identification number is used in every URL that you use to link to the IMC affiliate products.

Q: What kind of income can I expect?
A: Currently, our average "medium traffic site" receives a monthly referral check between $600 to $900. We have web sites that earn under $100 a month (very low traffic sites) and others as high as $7,500 a month or more (popular, high traffic sites).
The amount you earn depends on the type of people that visit your site, how many visitors you receive monthly, and how much exposure you give the link to the Internet Marketing Center.

We pay out over 60% of our net profit! (i.e. The revenue from a sale minus our costs.) But it doesn’t stop there. As you recruit other affiliates who join under you -- and they make sales -- you get the “second tier” commissions too!
Q: How much will it cost me to join?
A: There is no cost to join!
Q: When do I get paid?
A: We calculate sales from the 1st of one month to midnight of the last day of the same month. All referral checks are mailed within 10 business days after the last day of every month.
Q: How long does it take to sign up?
A: The sign-up process takes just a couple of minutes -- and there are no long surveys or endless forms to fill out. In just a couple of minutes you can be signed up and access our Affiliate Resource Center where you'll find all the info you need to get started.
Q: How many of my visitors that I send to your site can I expect to end up buying?
A:
As you probably already know, conversion rates depend on many factors. On average, most IMC affiliates earn one sale for every 95 to 115 visitors they send us for our core product, Corey Rudl's "Insider Secrets" course. Some sites that really "perform" see one sale for every 33 to 36 visitors they refer to us; however, to get this kind of great conversion ratio, a personal recommendation is required to give the added credibility to your promotion. A personal recommendation can increase your referral fees by as much as 416%.
For those of you who may not be aware, these conversion ratios are fantastic when you consider that the average conversion ratio for a web site on the Internet is one sale per 720 visitors!
With that said, we want to make it clear that the type of traffic you generate has a direct effect on the percentage of people that buy. For example, if you are promoting the "Insider Secrets" course on a site that sells horse saddles, it would be more reasonable to expect 1 sale out of every 750 to 900 visitors to the IMC site as these visitors are not targeted (i.e. they're unqualified visitors).
However, if you have a site that explains how to promote your business online or how to start a business online, you could expect to see results such as one out of every 50 visitors buying because they are the perfect qualified visitor with a natural interest in our products.
Q: Do I need a credit card merchant account and a secure site to join?
A: No. That's the beauty of an affiliate program -- we take care of all of the payment processing, secure server technology and even the shopping cart system. All you do is promote our products and cash your commission checks every month!
Q: Can I receive my commissions via Pay Pal?
A: No.
All commissions are paid out in US currency checks and are sent by regular mail. Unfortunately, our current system is not yet equipped to perform electronic transfers or to credit affiliate credit cards directly.
